Another great day to be a Bloc Party fan, the quartet have just dropped another new song building up to the release of their fifth studio album, HYMNS. It's titled 'The Good News' and probably won't do much to quell the fears of Bloc Party nostalgics - you've been warned. Check out the track below.
The track is as far into the depths of Americana the band have ever ventured. Steadfast palm-muted guitars act as the skeletal foundation for the track as Kele croons a strangely familiar melody. This recognisability is immediately flattened by a swinging and sliding guitar line that's SO try-hard bluesy, it wouldn't even fit on a new Black Keys record.
Fans of the band's earlier jittery and boundary-pushing material were thrown off course with the first release from HYMNS, 'The Love Within'. HYMNS is due for a release on 29 January. You can celebrate or mourn the release of this album with a night at Village Underground on the 26 January or at one of Bloc Party's many tour dates - more information below.
