Grooveshark has experienced a speedy resurrection, with a replica version appearing online this week which aims to 'reproduce the old Grooveshark UI in its entirety.'
Grooveshark shut down last week as a settlement in a legal battle with major record labels, which would have seen the streaming service paying $736 million in damages had they not shut their doors.
The users of the streaming service expressed their frustration last week when playlists and saved songs had been erased along with the closure of the site. But now, the chances of rebuilding their musical savings has had a spark of hope with a replica version.
In a report from BGR who claims the person (calling himself 'Shark') behind this resurrection contacted them explaining how it came about so quickly: "I started backing up all the content on the website when I started suspecting that Grooveshark's demise is close and my suspicion was confirmed a few days later when they closed. By the time they closed I have already backed up 90% of the content on the site and I'm now working on the remaining 10%."
BGR go on to suggest that the individual is connected to Grooveshark and has formed a team to create this replica version, you can see the site at grooveshark.io. The 'Shark' also suggested his intentions are in it for the long run: "We have all the servers/domains infastructure in place, it's going to be a rollercoaster and we're ready for it."
The original site still has a message pinned to its home page apologising for their 'serious mistakes.'
