Prince has announced that he will play a ‘Rally 4 Peace’ concert in Baltimore at the Royal Farms Arena this Sunday (April 10).
Last week, it was reported that Prince had written a song in response to the unrest in Baltimore, following the death of Freddie Gray while he was in police custody. The song, which was recorded at Paisley Park, is a “tribute to all of the people of the city of Baltimore”.
Now, according to CBS, he will also be playing a show with his band 3RDEYEGIRL this Sunday. They will be joined by “several industry superstars” who have called in support for the event and are expected to attend, but the names have not yet been revealed.
“In a spirit of healing, the event is meant to be a catalyst for pause and reflection following the outpouring of violence that has gripped Baltimore and areas throughout the U.S.,” a press release reads. “As a symbolic message of our shared humanity and love for one another, attendees are invited to wear something gray in tribute to all those recently lost in the violence.”
Tickets are on sale now. A portion of the proceeds will go to Baltimore-based youth charities.
