The Who have been announced as the Sunday Night Headliner for Glastonbury 2015.

The Mod Rockers have announced that they will be returning to Worthy Farm for the first time since 2007 when they also played the Sunday closing set. “It’s great to be ending this part of a 50 year career at the most prestigious and respected music festival in the world," said Roger Daltrey of the announcement. "We'll do our best to close this years event with a bang, unless of course the fireworks get wet!"

Here are five reasons why The Who at Glastonbury will be incredible:

1) 'This will be the last big tour' - The Who have recently finished the UK leg of their 50th Anniversary tour and have stated that it looks to be their last. Speaking with Rolling Stone, Roger Daltrey spoke of how the band have to be realistic about their age. They are starting the first leg of their North American tour this month, and have only two more UK Dates as a full band booked. One at Hyde Park and the other being the Pyramid headline slot at Glastonbury. Arguably one of the best bands Britain's ever produced, there is no better way for them to retire.

2) Pete Townshend makes it look easy - Even though Townshend has recently said that he doesn't enjoy playing shows with The Who anymore, it doesn't mean that he isn't a fantastic live player. He claims he finds the shows easy but he still enthralls his fans who pay to see him. One of the most legendary guitar players in history, it'd be mad to miss his performance one last time.

3) They've done it before - In 2007, The Who closed the Pyramid stage with a Greatest Hits set composed of 17 songs. 'Baba O'Riley', 'Pinball Wizard', 'My Generation', 'Who Are You'. The critics lauded The Who for their performance that year, The Telegraph in particular spoke of how The Who stole the show from everyone else at the festival. Yes they compared conditions to the Battle of Passchendaele in Word War One - but we just remember how 'Won't Get Fooled Again' sounded.

4) Their visuals are always great - The Who have become known for their stage show, employing massive screens, lights and videos of their history are a spectacle all of their own. As seen on their latest tour, The Who have become adept at using technology to enhance their sets to new levels. Already known as a legendary live band, the show they now put on is one to behold.

5) Roger Daltrey is still a fantastic frontman - In his very early seventies, Roger Daltrey is still one of the best frontman on the live circuit. His voice still sounds amazing live, and his stage presence is second to none. He knows how to control a crowd, and does so expertly.

Without question the most high profile festival in the calendar, this year's Glastonbury is arguably it's most musically diverse yet. Joining the previously announced headliners of Foo Fighters and Kanye West (as well as the almighty Lionel Ritchie) are some huge names including Florence & The Machine, Alt J, Motorhead, Mary J Blige, Patti Smith and the Chemical Brothers. Glastonbury 2015 takes place at Worthy Farm from 24 - 28 June.
