One of the most influential disco producers of the 70s and 80s will make his Glastonbury debut this year, the festival has announced.

Cerrone, a French disco drummer, composer and producer, will perform at Block9’s opening party on Thursday 25 June, kicking off a programme of installations, sound systems, underground nightclubs and live performance for the festival’s dance music venue.

The producer has sold 30 million records worldwide, including over eight million copies of his hit 1977 album, Supernature.

Other dance and electronic heavy weights appearing at Block9 include Erol Alkan, Awesome Tapes from Africa and Mark E.

The festival's 2015 line-up, including The Who as Sunday's headliners, has divided fans.
