Daft Punk's documentary Daft Punk Unchained has been given an official launch date by BBC Worldwide France.
The film makes the first ever official documentary to be made about the french electronic duo, and will premiere on 24 June at 8:50pm on Canal+ in France.
The film, directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre and co-authored with Marina Rozenman, tells the story of the band's creation and rise to popularity and major success, with the help of archived interviews, rare documents and exclusive interviews with those closest to the mysterious band, including interviews with Pharrell Williams, Kanye West and Pete Tong, among others.
Daft Punk Unchained "recounts the quest for liberty and independence of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. In an era of globalisation and the expansion of social media, the two Parisian musicians, DJs and producers have refused to show their own faces. They orchestrate every detail of their rare appearances."
Spanning their 20 year career, the documentary will cover their humble beginnings in their home studio in Paris in the mid-nineties and follow the band all the way to their 2014 Grammy Award appearance in LA.
Daft Punk Unchained will be distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide.
