More about: Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters have been accused of 'exploitation' by a Washington DC newspaper, over the strict rules of their photography contract.
Following Dave Grohl's leg injury and the cancellation of their UK tour dates and Glastonbury, Foos are set to return to the road this weekend with a massive gig in Washington DC to celebrate Independence Day.
Now, one local paper have told residents and readers of their disgust, with The Washington Paper accusing the band of 'exploitation...pure and simple' in a piece titled 'Why We're Not Photographing The Foo Fighters'.
"The band approving the photos which run in the City Paper; only running the photos once and with only one article; and all copyrights would transfer to the band," wrote the paper. "Then, here’s the fun part, the band would have 'the right to exploit all or a part of the Photos in any and all media, now known or hereafter devised, throughout the universe, in perpetuity, in all configurations' without any approval or payment or consideration for the photographer."
When asked for comment, the Foos' management claimed that these measures were to 'protect the band' - the same defence used by Taylor Swift, when she was accused of 'hypocrisy' over her similarly strict photo contract after she slammed Apple for not paying artists.
It is hoped that it won't be too long until the Foos return to UK shores. They have already reportedly been booked in to headline Glastonbury next year, as well as being named as bookies' favourites to headline alongside Muse and Oasis.
