Jack Black has taken to television to defend Kanye West for his talent while still admitting he is an "asshole".
The Tenacious D singer and actor appeared on the US talkshow host Conan O'Brien's show on Monday night (July 13), to defend West as "talented", explaining that it doesn't matter that he's still "an asshole" and discussing his hate of the mutual dependence of the two.
"It makes me mad that everyone is really mean to Kanye West", Black began.
"I'm sick of it. It's become the popular thing to pile on Kanye. 'Everyone can agree he is an asshole, ha ha ha'. I don't agree."
"I do agree that he is an asshole but I don't agree that he's not talented."
Speaking about Ye's controversial 2013 album, Black said: "Yeezus is like the best album out there."
Probably the truest statement about the character of Kanye, Black concluded by saying: "It's the narcissism that ruins [him] for people," Black continued: "They're like 'F you, if you say you're the best then I'm going to hate your art'."
Watch Jack Black coming to the defence of Kanye
Titling himself "the greatest living rockstar" during his Glastonbury headline set, Kanye shook up the music world inciting negative reactions from the likes of Slipknot's Corey Taylor and David Crosby who called West "dumb as a post".
Team Kanye has just as many supporters though. A recent video shows fellow Chicago rapper Chance the Rapper losing his mind over a shout-out from his hero.
