EDM artists Deadmau5 and Avicii have individually responded to criticism received from Noel Gallagher.
Speaking to NME about the state of electronic music, when asked about Avicii, the singer-songwriter responded: "I don't know anything about Avicii. I don't wish to know anything about Avicii. It sounds like an artist from the Renaissance period."
In addition to that, Noel took a further dig at dance music by introducing himself at T in the Park as "Deadmau5 without the stupid fucking hat".
The two artists have since responded via social media. Avicii has posted an instagram clip of the infamous 'dad this isn't music' scene from South Park with the caption: "Sounds like you’re playing the wrong festival if you’re at the same time dissing its entire audiences music taste you silly sausage!" See the clip below.
Avicii continued: "There are still good bands, still making great music that changes peoples lives, – what is really 'sad' is hearing a old time musician like yourself confessing so bluntly and openly to not having an open mind to new music by dissing shit you haven’t even heard, I really didn’t think someone whose whole image is being witty would turn all stereotype 'bitter ol timer rocker' like that".
Avicii's response to the Noel Gallagher comments
Deadmau5 has responded to his ribbing with a youtube video calling himself "Noel Gallagher without the stupid accent". Watch the video below.
It would seem that everyone is after a piece of Noel, including his brother having just name-checked him during an unheard song debuted in an Irish pub.
