After publishing a forecast that suggested bankruptcy last month, SoundCloud have now announced a paid subscription service. The company has named the new service SoundCloud Go and announced it on their Instagram yesterday (29 March).

The service is supposedly going to rival the already successful Apple Music and Spotify and the already not so successful Tidal. SoundCloud Go allows ad-free streaming as well as offline listening.

There will also be an expansion on the music the website is known for offering. Whilst the unpaid tier will still be available, listeners will be able to access a further catalogue of music, said to be able to go against its rivals with supposedly 100 million more tracks.

The new streaming app is only available in the states for the low price of $9.99 a month for Android phones and $12.99 for iOS users. Subscribers will receive a 30-day free trial before having to pay any money for the service.

The streaming service will be available in other countries later this year. CEO and founder, Alexander Ljung, said: "A platform for creators to collaborate on? for fans to discover the latest tracks, enjoy legendary music and connect with their favourite artists? And for our unique creative community to have the opportunity to be paid for their work."
