Florence + The Machine has been announced as the latest headliner of the British Summer Time Hyde Park concert series, with Kendrick Lamar, Jamie xx and Blood Orange set to support. The singer is currently recovering from a massive UK tour earlier in the year, which saw her draw largely from How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful in the likes of London, Manchester and Belfast - but by next summer, there may well be some new songs on the setlist.
The annual festival, which sees a handful of bands a day perform throughout the summer, has already revealed Mumford & Sons and Take That as headliners. Now, Florence + The Machine, who released her third album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, earlier this year, has joined them.
"It’s a real honour to headline Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park," said Florence Welch in a statement. "It’s an iconic place to perform, especially for a British artist. I grew up in London. All of my first gigs were here. We will put on something really special. What’s amazing is that we have free reign, so we are going to make something magical happen!"
Joining her on 2 July will be Kendrick Lamar - who released his criticially acclaimed second album, To Pimp A Butterfly, this year - and Jamie xx, whose debut solo effort, In Colour, was nominated for a Mercury.
This, for our money, is the best line-up the festival has announced so far. Tickets go on sale this Friday (4 December) at 10am. Get tickets and more information here.
