After announcing that he'll be playing a three-date UK tour last week, Lionel Richie has added a handful of further open air dates in the likes of Colchester, Gloucester and Sheffield. The 'Hello' singer (Can we still call him that after Adele stole that title?) will be playing the greatest hits from the ten albums he's released so far.
After his performance at Glastonbury drew the biggest crowd of the entire weekend this summer, Richie's career was given a new lease of life. In fact, his greatest hits album, The Definitive Collection, reached No.1 in the UK charts for the first time in 23 years.
He's cashing in on his new, younger demographic by playing two nights at The O2 in July, which he's now set to precede with a show at The Eden Project, as well as open air concerts in parts of the UK he's never visited before - St Austell, Swansea, Colwyn Bay, Colchester and Gloucester.
Speaking of the tour, Richie said, "I had such a great time in the UK this year and I can’t wait to visit new places and meet new people. Performing at Glastonbury for the first time was such a thrill for me and given me an appetite to do new things in the UK. I know these shows are going to be very special."
