The recent Amy Winehouse documentary film about her life, lyrics and cause of death has been shortlisted for an Oscar.
Senna director Asif Kapadia's documentary about the late British soul-singer came out in July to huge critical acclaim and became the second highest grossing documentary of all time at the UK box office.
Amy has now been shortlisted for the Best Documentary award at 2016‘s Oscars ceremony. Nina Simone biopic What Happened, Miss Simone? and Laurie Anderson's Heart Of A Dog are other music documentaries that could possibly scoop thee prestigious award, but the raw and revealing Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck didn’t make the list.
The shortlist will be reduced to five nominations on 14 January and The Oscars 2016 ceremony will take place on 28 February.
