Little Mix took to Twitter to show support for the ‘innocent people of Syria’, following parliament’s decision to bomb the war-torn country. Unfortunately for the ‘Wings’ girl group, their opinion came under strike in the Twittersphere.

The group’s Jade Thirlwall wrote on Twitter, “truly saddened and ashamed by the vote tonight. So, so sorry to the innocent people of Syria xxjadexx”. The message was attached with a Tweet from Jeremy Corbyn who condemned the actions of the government.

Thirlwall’s tweet has been shared almost 4,000 times, but was met with a wave of negative responses.

The girls have since reacted to the backlash by tweeting, “sure it's not the first time a young woman has been mocked for having political opinion. Men from my own party too. Shameful”.

Little Mix have recently extended their already jam-packed 2016 tour. Tickets are on sale here.
