Sia shares 'Cheap Thrills' from forthcoming album

The 'Alive' singer's new tropical-flavoured track was originally intended for Rihanna

Sia releases new song Cheap Thrills originally written for Rihanna Photo:

Singer-songwriter Sia, who has penned some of the biggest hits for other artists including Rihanna's 'Diamonds' and Rita Ora's 'Radioactive', has released a new track from her forthcoming solo album, This Is Acting. 'Cheap Thrills' is the latest track to be shared from the new LP, which is said to be made up entirely of rejected tracks written for other artists.

Sia's latest single premiered on Apple Music's Beats 1 online radio station on Wednesday 16 December. The song chronicles Sia’s getting-hyped-for-the-club mindset, as she declares she doesn’t have to be rich to have a good time:

"I don't need no money / As long as I can feel the beat / I don't need no money / As long as I keep dancing," she sings, while a backing voice shouts, "I love cheap thrills!"

Like every other track on her upcoming album, This Is Acting, 'Cheap Thrills' was originally intended for another artist – in this case, it was for Rihanna's ANTI album. The sunny, tropical house style sounds like Rihanna’s early work, but this may have been the very reason why it was rejected.

The song may have suited Selena Gomez's album Revival, as it would've fitted in perfectly with island-flavoured tunes like 'Me & The Rhythm', 'Body Heat' and 'Me & My Girls.'
