More about: Kanye West
It's been less than 24 hours since rumours emerged that Kanye West is planning a David Bowie tribute album, and already there's a petition to stop him from doing so. Some people have too much spare time.
According to The Daily Star, the musician has been getting in the studio to record his own versions of Bowie's greatest hits, including 'Changes', 'Heroes' and 'Rebel, Rebel'.
According to a source for the paper, "Some are straightforward cover versions with Kanye actually singing. On others he is rapping with his own lyrics over Bowie's music."
The report also claimed that "Kanye sees himself as a successor to Bowie in terms of musical innovation." Of course, this has fuelled people's disproportionately strong hatred for West.
Now, a petition set up by Peter Piranha, entitled "Stop Kanye West recording covers of David Bowie's music" has gained over 300 signatures in 17 hours.
"David Bowie was one of the single most important musicians of the 20th and 21st century," writes Piranha in the 'Why is this important?' section, "it would be a sacrilege to let it be ruined by Kanye West."
We're not sure exactly how these 312 (and counting) people are planning on stopping Kanye from doing what he wants to do, but hey ho.
