Grimes has revealed that there have been ‘numerous situations’ in which male producers have attempted to coerce her back to their hotel rooms.
Recently, a lawsuit filed by Kesha claiming that producer Dr. Luke had sexually and emotionally abused her, and asking to be released from the contract that tied her to him, was thrown out of court.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Grimes was asked how she felt about the situation, which has sparked outrage from the likes of Lorde, Lady Gaga and Adele. "I don't know enough about the specifics of that situation,” Grimes said, "because it seems very complicated."
She continued, "But I will say that I've been in numerous situations where male producers would literally be like, 'We won't finish the song unless you come back to my hotel room.’
"If I was younger or in a more financially desperate situation, maybe I would have done that. I don't think there are few female producers because women aren't interested. It's difficult for women to get in. It's a pretty hostile environment.”
Kesha recently said that she was offered her freedom if she were to “lie and say that I never got raped."
