Rob Zombie has spoken out for BABYMETAL, defending the 'Karate' stars in the face of haters by thelling them that the Japanese sensation 'have more energy that 90 per cent of the bands he plays with.

The band, who are currently on tour in support of their huge second album METAL RESISTANCE, met the rock icon backstage at festival where he took a selfie with the trio before posting it on Facebook with the caption, "backstage with my new pals BABYMETAL".

What followed was a pretty vicious backlash from fans of more 'old school' metal, but Zombie have as good as he got in the Facebook comments.

"I'm a grown man and this makes me want to cry - a shameful embarrassment to anything metal," said one fan, before Rob responded: "Hey, they are nice kids out on the road touring. What are you doing besides being a grumpy old fuck?"

Amen. Another then called them "awful" before adding "this is lame. I love you, Rob, but shame on you." Rob's brilliant response: "They roll harder than you."

A third fan then piped up:  "Are you kidding me, Rob? BABYMETAL is J-pop, not metal. But to each their own, I guess" - before Zombie fired back with: "These three girls had more energy than 90 percent of the bands we play with."

BABYMETAL remained classy and gracious throughout the whole exchange, elegantly writing:

After they played a historic and mind-expanding show at London's Wembley Arena earlier this year, now the Japanese metal sensation will be rightly heading to the home of rock when they hit Donington Park to perform alongside the likes of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Rammstein, Deftones and many more at Download Festival next month.

"BABYMETAL music is a blend of hard music and metal music with Japanese pop and sounds," Yuimetal told Gigwise, explaining their appeal. "If we were not from Japan, we'd be a totally different band with totally different fans. We are Japanese, we are BABYMETAL."

As a taster of what to expect, when reviewing their Wembley show we said: "Everything is exaggerated to the Nth degree, but with such immaculate clarity that it can hardly seem ridiculous. This is a fully-formed vision that's impossible not to get totally lost in."

Download takes place between 10 and 12 June at Donington Park in Derbyshire, and you can get tickets and more information here.
