Two people have died and up to 17 people so far have been injured after a nightclub shooting in Florida.

WTSP report that 17 youngsters were hurt after shooting broke out at a 'teen night' at Club Blu in Fort Myers, Florida. It is said that a 'musical artist' was performing on stage when the shooting broke out.

One suspect has been arrested while another is still at large.

“I called and couldn’t get a hold of them, I rushed to Blu scared when I arrived I got one of them and he said that the shooter took of and the cops where chasing him,” said one eyewitness.

“It was a mad house people were running every where. All people were saying was their friends’ names to see if they’re okay — a lot of phone calls to parents. But it was one of the scariest sights to just see people come pouring out like that.”

Syreeta Gary, whose daughter was at the scene said: "Well, I just thank God that my daughter is okay. She could have been shot. She was dodging bullets and dropping between cars.

"It is ridiculous that kids have to go through this and they cannot enjoy themselves because you have people with criminalistic minds who want to terrorize people. ‘She was running away from bullets so she wouldn’t get shot. Her friend got shot in the leg."

Police are yet to officially confirm the cause of the incident.
