Beyonce's status as a superstar just got even more inflated as she won seven awards including the prestigious prize for video of the year for her track 'Formation'.

"First of all I'd like to thank my beautiful daughter and my incredible husband for all of their support," she said as she accpeted the ward from the US olympix gymanastics team

The 34-year-old rounded off an impressive night with a 16 minute medley of songs taken from her latest album, Lemonade.

Right after Beyonce played Briney Spears and G-Eazy had the unthnkably difficult task of going on after the former Destiny's Child star. But after a decade away from the VMA stage fans were more than ready for her. Watch the performance below.

Meanwhile, David Bowie was postumously awarded for his album Darkstar that won the Best Art Direction award.
