Purling Hiss, who are neatly described as, “the orphaned kids of every rock and roll generation DNA’d into one" by their label, have unveiled the second single from their fortomcing album, High Bias. You can listen to ‘3000 AD’ first on Gigwise below.
It’s a seriously potent mix of tremolo and chorus affected guitar, breathtaking drumming, and reverb soaked vocals. The Philadelphia-based band’s ability to mix in melody with the visceral nature of post punk, and the atmospheric fuzz of shoegaze, is impeccable
They’re a rich man's Joy Division, Echo And The Bunnymen, and Brian Jonestown Massacre all rolled into one. Purling Hiss should be one of the biggest bands in the world but they’ve existed as a go-to for the more discerning indie collectors since putting their debut out in 2009. Those who know them know.
