On Saturday night in Malibu, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ Chad Smith, and Beck got together for a charity gig benefiting Boys and Girls Club

Chad Smith described the group as “his new boy band” on Instagram. The line up also included Goldfrapp’s Davide Rossi, E Street Band keyboardist Roy Bittan, and The Wallflowers’ Jakob Dylan.

Together, they performed Pink Floyd’s ;Comfortably Numb;, Beach Boys’ ‘Surfin’ USA’. You can watch snippets of those two below. Beck comfortably strums his acoustic and provided backing vocals. Chad Smith provided a steady beat without needing to show off too much. Chris Martin can’t help but sound like Chris Martin on Pink Floyd but tries to get a slight American accent on The Beach Boys cover and manages pretty well.

It’s all held in what looks like a quiet little garden party. According to Consequence of Sound, they also played Bruce Springsteen’s ‘My Hometown’, and songs by Prince, Ariana Grande, and Beck himself. For their performance of Twenty One Pilots’ ;Heart of Gold', Chris Martin’s son Moses sang lead.
