Lily Allen has been forced to delete a string of tweets after being deluged by abusive messages following comments she made in the wake of the Finsbury Park terror attack.

One man was killed and at least 10 others were injured when a van was driven into worshippers near the Finsbury Park mosque after they left Ramadan prayers. Darren Osbourne, 47, was arrested at the scene and is being in held in custody on suspicion of terror offences including attempted murder.

Tweeting shortly after the attack took place, Lily Allen claimed that the attacker had been “radicalised” by the British media.

She tweeted: “Radicalized by the British media. #FinsburyPark.”

She then later said that she would be deleting a number of tweets after saying that she’d been on the receiving end of a number of abusive messages.

“I'm deleting my tweets you all know where I stand on this,” she posted.

“The replies I'm getting are abhorrent. This has attracted the worst of the worst.”

Lily Allen attacked the media last week by saying that news reports had downplayed the death toll from the Grenfell Tower fire.

She told Channel 4 news: “Seventeen? I'm sorry but I am hearing from people the figure is much closer to 150 - and that many of those people are children.

“They are off-the-record numbers I have been given from policemen and from firemen.”
