Pre-sale tickets are here for the UK tour of 80s rock icons Marillion (Thursday September 14, 10am).

The tour will kick off in Gateshead on April 11, before heading to Cambridge, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Reading and climaxing in Liverpool on 20 April. The tickets are exclusively through Amazon prime and avoid the heavy foot traffic expected with the general on sale tomorrow.

Best known for barnstorming power ballads such as ‘Kayleigh’ and ‘Lavender’, the Aylesbury five-piece are hailed by rock critics for forging a key stylistic link between post punk and ‘classic’ prog rock.

In recent decades the band, led by Steve Hogarth, have also earned recognition for pioneering such modish approaches to music as fan-funded recordings and tour support.

Despite several lineup changes, the band retains a massive international cult following, and as such their live shows are crammed with devotees eager to hear material from across the band’s long and varied career.

And though sometimes unfairly maligned in popular culture as the apotheosis of mullet-haired 80s musical excess, the band have sold some 15 million albums and recorded 18 LPs, including the acclaimed ‘Script for a Jester’s Tear’, ‘Misplaced Childhood’ and ‘After the Sunlight’.

2016’s album Fuck Everyone And Run was seen as a blistering return to form, charting as high as Number 4 on the UK album charts. It received a gushing, unprecedented 5-star review in the Guardian.

In addition to the tour dates below the band will play a special sold out one-off show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, a first for the band.
