Robbie Williams – ‘Rudebox’ (EMI) Released 04/09/06

Mr Robbie Williams slices a sample from Sly and Robbie’s ‘Boops (Here To Go)’ and winds it around his cheeky musings about fat lasses, Michael Jackson and TK Maxx.  It’s basically Rob does electronica using a funky sample. The female vocals provide a foil to his sauciness but doesn’t work as well as Kylie in ‘Kids’. The backdrop sounds like electronic indigestion in the extended mix. ‘Rudebox’ is going to end up being given a lot of attention and liked because of its parentage when it actually does nothing original. It's to music what Paris Hilton is to celebrity.

  • When will fatty Williams go off and roll around in his money and stop making bad music to torture us all?

  • Good review! He’s doing what he does best though, edgy pop tracks. it’s better than a lot of other shite out here. he can’t rap, and should steer clear, but the track on the whole is quite interesting (thanks to the producer). He’s an entertainer, and after seeing him at glastonbury all those years ago, a fuckin good one!
