Sziget 2018 is adding to the claim that mainland Europe is where it’s at when it comes to festivals this summer with the announcement that Dua Lipa and Gorillaz will be joining Arctic Monkeys, Kendrick Lamar, Kygo and Mumford & Sons.

Taking place from the 8 - 15 August in Budapest, Hungary, the multi-award winning festival has also added Shawn Mendes, Stormzy, The War on Drugs, Lianne La Havas, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard to its growing line-up.

Rapidly growing in reputation, the seven-day event – yes, that’s seven whole days of festival revelry to be had – is hosting 50 stages and bringing together some 450,000 people. One, three, five and seven day tickets for Sziget are now on sale. Prices start at a reasonable €70.

Dua Lipa is fast becoming the success story of 2018. As one of the highest streamed artists on Spotify and YouTube – her video for ‘Be The One’ alone has been viewed an eye-watering 175m times – she’s also been nominated five times at this year’s BRIT Awards. The ‘New Rules’ hitmaker has been nominated in the British Female Solo Artist, Breakthrough Act, Single and Video categories, and, most importantly, British Album of the Year.

Elsewhere, Gorillaz are ready to release their next album, the follow-up to 2017’s Humanz, later this year. “We’re working on another Gorilllaz album that we’re going to be releasing next year,” said the band’s Jamie Hewlett to German publisher Taschen.

“So we’re going straight into the album with no break. Usually we have a good five-year break between each album but we decided: ‘You know what? Let’s keep going’ because there’s ideas for a few more albums so we’re going to go straight into that. That’s will be all of next year and probably the year beyond that.”

Seven days, eh? Who’s up for it, then?
