If you think Spinal Tap’s Derek Smalls had it bad with onstage malfunctions, then spare a thought for Beyonce who was left stranded after a flying stage broke down during a concert in Warsaw on Saturday night (30 June).

The ‘Crazy In Love’ hitmaker had been performing on a moving stage at the PGE Narodowy stadium in the Polish capital when she was left high and dry after the prop broke down.

Depending on your sense of humour or empathy, hilarious/fist in mouth [delete as applicable] fan footage of the incident shows husband Jay-Z telling fans to “make some noise” as roadies put up a ladder to help the singer down. It then takes three of the roadcrew over a minute and a half to seemingly persuade Beyonce to climb down the ladder.

But all credit to Beyonce who eventually climbed down to the evident delight of her fans. And quite probably her insurers, too, who must have had a cow at the thought of her making her way down a ladder in a pair of thigh-high boots.

So, depending on that humour-empathy balance, here’s the fan footage that will elicit the appropriate response…

Beyonce and Jay-Z’s On The Run II tour kicked off in Cardiff in June. They return to live action in Cologne, Germany on Tuesday (3 July). Presumably she’ll have a parachute ready this time.
