London quartet Sorry have shared the visuals for new track ‘Jealous Guy’.
They channel the aesthetic made famous by the likes of Two-Tone legends The Specials and Madness - pork pie hats, sharp suits, sunnies and a sax complete the look, all shot from interesting angles on a film camera. Watch the video below:
The track is not to be confused with the Lennon and Plastic Ono Band song of the same name, however. Sorry’s ’Jealous Guy’ appears to be a satirical take on the overbearing, hyper-possessive nature of Lennon’s lyrical content, while Asha Lorenz’s witty lyrics slyly play on Lennon’s sentiment. “It’s only me, you, and myself….I have to be the one who serves you….I’m a sad affair, don’t wanna see your brunette hair fall on anybody else…”.
The theme of intense jealousy is threaded throughout the video, culminating in Lorenz ‘killing’ her longtime childhood friend and bandmate Louis in a fit of jealous rage. Operating under the moniker ‘Flasha’, longtime visual collaborator Flo Webb and Sorry’s very own Asha, directed the visuals. ‘Jealous Guy’ shows Sorry at their off-kilter, lo-fi, downtempo prime. The propelling rhythm section keeps this woozy track somewhat buoyant, quite a feat considering the lyrical content.
Sorry will headline Dingwalls in Camden on 28 March and the band will also head out on tour with Fat White Family in May, beginning with a date at Southampton’s The 1865 on 1 May and culminating with a show at Norwich The Waterfront on 14 May. Sorry also play headline shows in Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff and Brighton interspersed between the dates with Fat Whites.
