A uniting call for the current generation to fight for change, Liam Gallagher has released brand new track ‘The River’. Driven by a commanding, visceral riff, rallying drums and politically-incited lyrics, the track is an anarchists anthem which urges society not to “believe in celebrities, money sucking MP’s or the device in your hand”. With a strong music video reminiscent of 90’s Manchester, the entire performance is an honest and anarchistic expression of Gallagher’s rocky and rebellious nature. The track is co-written by Liam alongside producer Andrew Wyatt, who was also a vital collaborator on the vanquishing solo-album As You Were.
It comes after the news of Gallagher’s second solo album, Why Me? Why Not, due for released on 20 September. Combine this with the biblical reaction to his recent lead single ‘Shockwave’, and his scheduled performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage this Saturday, and the singer is currently an unstoppable force. Commenting on his new record, he states that he wanted the second album “to be a step-up” from As You Were, taking on the challenge of creating something similar but better. Tune into ‘The River’ below:
Taking into account the singer’s current momentum, there is little doubt that Gallagher is spot-on about his new album.
