More about: Saytr Play
This new single from Mancunians Saytr Play sees them take a slice of musical inspiration from one of the biggest bands to ever come out of the city; with its funk-indebted indie groove, the intro is vaguely reminiscent of that characteristic Stone Roses inflection. Bucket-hat worshipping listeners, keep your eyes peeled and your ears open…
‘Second Hand Emotion’ sounds like potential future indie dancefloor filler. Building into a massive sounding indie-pop track - heavy on the synthesised hooks and glossy, grandiose pop-rock production, the single wouldn’t be out of place blasting out of the speakers at the Etihad stadium. It’s an exciting new single from the band, whose energetic live performances have been gaining momentum over the last couple of years, while their last single appeared on multiple high profile Spotify playlists, including ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘The Indie List’. Listen to the track here first as well as the accompanying video, exclusively on Gigwise:
The single is a subconscious diary entry discussing lead singer Fred Farrell's inner worries due to the current state of affairs in our country and globally. He elaborates, “The track’s image explores the vulnerability I feel in today’s society and this idea that we have a voice. In my opinion we don’t have a voice or at least a voice that will be heard. The abstract nature of the image provokes thought. What ever that may be is irrelevant because it’s your own unique thought! Your second hand emotion.”
