Sound City Ipswich have shared the line-up for their one day showcase event on 4 October 2019. See it in full on Gigwise below.
Mostly focusing on the next big thing, as opposed to antiquated names, the line-up is a strong mix spanning different genres.
Highlighting Ireland's post-punk revival are the hotly-tipped The Murder Capital. Of a similar level of esteem are the establishment-baiting artful London troupe Snapped Ankles, who put out their krautrock inspired album Stunning Luxury out in March this year.
The Mercury prize-nominated artist Novelist from Lewisham is undoubtedly one of the most talented producers and MC's in the country and makes a solid addition to the Ipswich event.
Other highlights include garage punks Gaffa Tape Sandy, who aren't long into their time being signed to Primary Talent, and are rising the ranks after some acclaimed performances in small venues across the UK.
But the old school isn't entirely neglected because in an attempt to support local artists, 1980s John Peel favourites The Stupids are added to the bill and will perform their skate punk set.
The showcase will take place across four different venues in the town: The Smokehouse (80 capacity), the Manor Ballroom (200 capacity) and the Corn Exchange (950 capacity) with an outdoor stage on the Cornhill. The outdoor stage is programmed in partnership with BBC Music Introducing in Suffolk.
As for the accompanying conference - the part that makes it a unique event for Ipswich - it takes place 11am-5pm at the 200 capacity Ipswich Film Theatre. Echoing the format of events such as The Great Escape, and indeed all Sound City events across the globe, it will feature panel discussions and conversations with artists and industry figures.
