Sumptuous, artful art-rockers Artificial Pleasure have released the first single from their forthcoming second album. ‘Side By Side Together’ is a softer turn from rock to pop synth for the London band and demos a new direction for 2020’s release.

Glistening and synth-tastic, ‘Side By Side Together’ is a bright pop song painted with the irresistible gloss of the nineteen-eighties. It’s the first single from a year of non-album releases and also follows the excellent 2018 album The Bitter End. Hear the new single on Gigwise:

Complemented as always by the luxuriant vocals of Phil McDonnell, the new single was written in the band’s tour van at night, and is “a love song about friendship.”

In a press release, McDonnell said: “The long nights, long drives, the hardships, the fun, the falls and high points of touring all bind us together in a way that goes beyond friendship and they are experiences that bond people for life, regardless of distance.”

‘Side By Side Together’ is the first taste of a new album, yet to be named, coming in 2020.
