Download Festival has today announced KISS, Iron Maiden and System of a Down as its 2020 headliners.
KISS headline Friday 12 June and Iron Maiden and System of a Down take Saturday (13) and Sunday (14) respectively.
With such big names on the bill, tickets to this legendary festival will likely be highly sought after and they go on sale at 2pm on Wednesday 25 September here.
All the headliners have strong history with the festival. 'Chop Suey' hitmakers System of a Down, who are a UK exclusive for Download, created a spectacle at this festival in 2017. Iron Maiden count this headline slot as part of their Legacy of the Beast tour and are playing Download for the seventh time. And KISS - also a UK exclusive - are welcomed back having last headlined Download in 2015.
For KISS, the gig as added impetus since it's likely to be their last major show on UK soil: "Download will be the culmination of 47 years of unapologetic bombast and spectacle. We will make this a fitting farewell to a country and its people whose music remains the blood in our veins,” says Paul Stanley in a press statement.
Making this iconic festival feel like an absolute must for 2020 is the fact heroes of the nu metal era Korn, The Offspring and Deftones are also playing.
Disturbed, Gojira, Alestorm, Black Veil Brides, Daughtry and Of Mice & Men complete the first wave announcement.
It's hard to envision anything less than sheer bedlam come next summer. Bring it on.
