More about:

Having just signed to Nice Swan Records (Pip Blom, Sports Team), Hotel Lux have dropped ‘Tabloid Newspaper’ - their first foot-tapper since March, and the latest single off of their cult-ly anticipated debut EP Barstool Preaching.

You know those back-of-the-bus troublemakers who ceaselessly reel monologues of nonsensical speech and calls of “are we nearly there yet” without ever really seeming to pause for breath or indeed, get anywhere? This band that is not. Whilst there is youthful tongue-in-cheek aplenty, and the champion wit rings true, unwaveringly, this five-piece are lyrically reaching the realist of places at a limitlessly speed.

Speaking of the number, singer and honest man Lewis Duffin quotes how: “That old saying of the journo's cut, paste and twist is the same in songwriting” was the admitted inspiration and yet, no-one, repeat no-one has to date been able to command consistent references to Danny Dyer and “drinking Stella Artois” in manners of such timeless nonchalance as this bunch have. Things in life may get twisted but at least the bass chugs beeline and we’ve got Dave McCracken’s production to count on for continuity when word gets out.

‘Tabloid Newspaper’ unfolds and is just a damn fine piece of danceable-do-good. With a drive choppier than Damon Albarn’s fringe, never forget when the time comes, if you’re not crying “twistaaaah of the truth” with pint in hand then you’re better off not singing at all. Tune in now:
