Sam Fender has given Gigwise an update on album number two.

Speaking on the red carpet at last night’s (12 February) NME Awards, the singer said, “I’ve got 40 odd songs written for the second one, I just need to find time to get in the studio, but I’m ready to go.”

As well as sharing an update on album number two, he has also today (13 February) unveiled the last track to be taken from the “Hypersonic Missiles era”, ‘Hold Out’. Listen below:

Clocking in at just over two and a half minutes ‘Hold Out’ fuses Fender’s unmistakeable vocal with yearning brass and an electrifying guitar solo. Detailing the song, Sam says, “We nearly released ‘Hold Out’ as a single a while back.  It used to be a staple in our live set when the band first got together, and I’ve always been really fond of it. It’s about going out on the lash back home which was really just a form of escape. This is going to be the last tune we put out there of the Hypersonic Missiles era. I hope you like it as much as I do.”

The new track comes after the musician was forced to cancel tour dates for a second time due to ill health. He told Gigwise, “I’m just glad to be back, I’m sick of being at home, I’ve been going stir crazy.” We’re glad you’re back too, Sam!
