More about: Hotel Lux
A gobful of smart-mouthed guitar work this morning for those of you who can never get enough of London's post-punk movement. Hotel Lux have released their new single 'Eddie's Gaff' and it's a lazy, baggy cut that sonically reflects its subject matter - waking up with regret the morning after the night before.

One for anyone who ended up at the after-party they definitelty didn't need to go to, 'Eddie's Gaff' enjoys a ska-influenced meander with some pretty relatable lyrics: "oh it's just another day, wasting our lives away" the band sing over undone guitars. Essentially, Hotel Lux have made a post-punk ska tune that many of us can relate to..."it's 6am again, I hear the birds call my name" they sing, adding that they'd prefer to take an Uber home because they "can't face the bus".
'Eddie's Gaff' foretells the release of EP Barstool Preaching, out 24 April on Nice Swan Records and also featuring Gigwise fave 'Tabloid Newspaper'.
Hear it:
At the song's closing scene, the mood takes a definite dip, the story rather accurately moving from the hilarity and camaraderie of the party to the awful strokes of the comedown.
Today (3 March) is the band's final night on a UK tour. Their journey finishes with a hometown show at London's Waiting Room tonight - get yourself a ticket if you're wanting to hear 'Eddie's Gaff' live. They also play a fundraising show at The Windmill - with all proceeds helping the lads get out to Austin, Texas and SXSW festival. That show's on 13 March.
