New music festival The Great Escape have cancelled its 2020 edition due to Covid-19, it has announced. The unsurprising but disappointing news came this afternoon on the festival's social media channels.

"We are very sorry to say that The Great Escape 2020 will no longer be taking place this year" the statement began.

"The entire TGE family is so disappointed to have to make this decision", it added, confirming that "we will be back on 12th-15th May 2021 for a belated 15th year."

The Great Escape confirm that ticket holders for this year's festival can roll their purchase over to next year's event instead.

The cancellation is the latest in a string of them, with surely more to come for events touted to take place over the next three months.

The Great Escape will now take place from 12-15 May 2021.
