More about:

Bob Dylan has dropped a song about the assassination of JFK. Titled 'Murder Most Foul', the song is an offering to the world's Bob Dylan fans, released with Bob's blessing as a quarter of the world try to thrive in quarantine.

Mournful strings bolster Dylan's unmistakable warble as he moves from the sadness of November 22 1963 into a more positive narrative. "They blew off his head" he sings as the song begins, narrating the events of the day President Kennedy was murdered.

But this is a Dylan song, and it's almost seventeen minutes long...so the song doesn't end there. Transitioning to a more hopeful keys and string section, Dylan goes on to take the listener through the nineteen-sixties, the shockwaves felt by the assassination, and as much detail about the events as Stephen King's 11/22/63.

All in all, it puts us in mind of adjustment: human kind have come through terrible events before, and we will again.

The beautiful lament was posted on Dylan's official website this morning with a note to his fans: "with gratitude for all your support and loyalty across the years" he wrote, "stay safe, stay observant and may God be with you."

Bob Dylan recently cancelled shows billed to take place in Japan across the month of April. The shows will be rescheduled when the world order becomes clearer.

Issue Four of the Gigwise Print magazine is on pre-order now! Order here.
