More about:

'Heroine' is the latest indication that Jehnny Beth's debut solo album To Love Is To Live is going to be big. The fourth single in a streak of original triumphs, this latest release is a collaboration with The xx's Romy and producer Flood.

We've had industrial on 'I'm The Man', quiet, sinister lust on 'Flower' and voice-changing experimentation on 'Innocence'. With 'Heroine', Beth experiments with something altogether more dance-able, though still with an irresistible undertone of the uncanny.

"All I want is to never fall in love again" Beth sings on a track that flies high with Romy's backing vocals and pulls back with relentless percussion. Hear it:

On the track, Beth said: "I guess I'm telling this story because sometimes we look around for role models...without realising that the answer can be hidden inside of us. I was afraid to be the Heroine of the song, but it took all the people around me to get me there."

Episode two of Beth's new talk and music show Echoes is out now too. This one features chat and performances from King Krule, Beak> and Nilufer Yanya.

To Love Is To Live arrives 12 June via Caroline Records.
