More about: KAWALA
Indie dream piece KAWALA have released a new slice of total chill today in the form of the quietly cheerful 'Ticket To Ride'. A joyful animated video with a twist comes along with it. It follows this year's self-titled EP.
Vaguely tropical in its unctuous beat and gentle finger-picked guitar, 'Ticket To Ride' is an ode to looking forward to going on holiday. Catchy and laidback, it takes the indie tropes of sunny vocals and chiming guitars and infuses them with as much a feel of paradise as possible.
The vibe of the song is perfectly reflected by an accompanying video animated by Alan Berry Rhys. Prepare to relate hard as a bored bloke stuck at home imagines being on holiday:
“We wrote Ticket to Ride simply about our desperate need for escapism” the band explain. “We wanted it to feel daydreamy but also use the imagery of getting on that first train out to show our pursuit for better times. Even though we wrote the song before lockdown, think it’s something that we can all relate to now more than ever!”
On the special video, the band said: "when we went in to lockdown & were unable to meet up & film videos, we finally saw our opportunity to make that dream a reality."
