Glass Animals continue their new album campaign with the second single from forthcoming project Dreamland. 'Heat Waves' is a return to the upbeat melancholy of Mercury-nominated album How To Be A Human Being. It comes with a bittersweet socially-distanced video.

Frontman Dave Bayley walks London's empty streets with a soundsystem, making his way to an empty venue and performing on a deserted stage as his bandmates play on television sets.

The cut is a pensive, blooming electronic experience that portrays a sense of ponderous sadness. It's the ideal soundtrack to the empty venue Bayley performs on in the video's closing shots. See it:

“The Heat Waves video is a love letter to live music and the culture and togetherness surrounding it," Bayley said, "these venues are left empty now, and many of them will not survive. The song is about loss and longing, and ultimately realizing you are unable to save something.."

Glass Animals finally announced their third full-length in May after a lengthy hiatus. Though the electronic group have released a single or two in the last 6 months, it's been four years since their most recent full-length.

The long break is largely down to the terrible accident that band drummer Joe Seaward suffered in 2018 - the near-death experience is just one theme of new album Dreamland.

Dreamland arrives 7 August via Polydor
