Part of EP III

We're pleased to introduce you to Japanese Television: today, they release their stratospheric new single 'Falling Spikes'. It's a noodling, out of this world piece of their forthcoming EP III.

There are no vocals in the three-and-a-half-minute track, which journeys through space on a motorik beat that swirls with influences of psych, garage and plain experimentalism.

There's a sense of surfing through the stars and coming across a funky new planet on this one:

Charmingly, Japanese Television make their own effects pedals and use lesser-utilised instruments in their songs: can you hear a shamisen in 'Falling Spikes'? We reckon we can.

You might also be able to tell that these guys are into Joe Meek. Space aesthetics for the win!
