We're pleased to introduce you to a brand new talent today: the eclectic Marie Bashiru, who makes her debut on the Common Language label with 'Joyride', an uplifting blend of inspiration.

Folk, indie and pop are just three genres that get a look-in on the colourful 'Joyride', which is a gentle high life stroll through guitar acts, understated percussion and sweet, carefree vocals. Like its cover art, the track radiates yellowness: warmth, positivity and simple beauty.

“Joyride is a song written in the spirit and in homage to my West African background. it takes you on a journey of adventure, colour and new beginnings in the midst of challenge and uncertainty" Marie said.

This artist came to her sound through a combination of high life inspirations, British indie and Tracy Chapman. Stay tuned for more!
