More about:

Joel Culpepper has continued the journey to his debut album Sgt Culpepper with the release of the video for 'Poetic Justice', a single that got its premiere on Annie Mac's Radio 1 show last week.

Beginning with some mellow spoken word between Culpepper and a female protagonist urging him to let go of the past, 'Poetic Justice' dissolves into a soulful, yearning track that shows the introspective side of an artist known for his funky party-starters.

The song was produced by Tom Misch and follows Double AA-side 'Return'/'War', which will also appear on his forthcoming debut. "I feel like Justice is poetry but it’s also complex. Part of justice is forgiveness, no longer enslaved by the pain of what someone’s done to you but the ability to move on from it” Culpepper said in a press note.

We named Joel as one of our 21 Ones To Watch for 2021. See the full list here.

Sgt Culpepper arrives 5 March.
