We're well into the second year of the pandemic, and its far-reaching effects are of course still being felt. Today, Primavera Sound announces that it will cancel its second year in a row, returning in 2022.

Following Glastonbury's cancellation as well as yesterday's news that the UK's Download Festival will also return in 2022, Primavera posted to social media this morning confirming their postponement.

"It is with great sadness that we must announce that the 20th anniversary of Primavera Sound Barcelona is posponed until 2022 due to force majeure. We have tried everything, but we have now made this very painful decision," the statement read.

"We will make it doubly good next year."

A blockbuster line-up starring Bikini Kill, Earl Sweatshire, Rina Sawayama and hundreds more was planned for 2021.

Again, ticket holders for the cancelled 2020 edition can hold onto their purchases for next year's event.
