More about: McKinley Dixon
McKinley Dixon has followed up the excellent lead single to his forthcoming album For My Mama and Anyone Who Look Like Her. 'Swangin' follows 'make a poet Black' and shows a bouncier - but no less powerful angle from the Virginia rapper.

Built on a shaking, banging, rhythmic beat, Dixon alternately raps and layers treated vocal over instrumentals created by Josh Letjoux. The banging rhythm "had the feel of children banging on a lunch room table" Dixon noted.
The track follows last month's 'make a poet Black', which we called "a track that refuses to be pinned down", moving as it does between hip-hop and free jazz.
Following lst year's The House That Got Knocked Down EP and 2018's Who Taught You to Hate Yourself? and The Importance of Self-Belief, For My Mama and Anyone Who Look Like Her will be Dixon's first release on Spacebomb.
