Southampton’s Salem have today released their first new music of 2021 with ‘DRACULADS’, a dark banger that bounces between high-energy punk guitars and slowed-down lingering rock.

Made up of Creeper lead singer Will Gould and long-time collaborator Matt Reynolds, you can expect the same level of indulgent, theatrical songwriting that made Creeper’s Sex, Death & The Infinite Void such a celebrated album last summer.

Following on from their debut self-titled EP, released just in time for Halloween last year, ‘DRACULADS’ has already appeared at the few live shows that the band were able to perform last year. It comes with the announcement of their second EP, Salem II, arriving 7 May.

The music video is a true celebration of the goth subculture. Big hair, shared cigarettes and a bedroom adorned with pictures of Robert and Siouxsie will make you nostalgic for the '80s and really long for the camaraderie of the alternative scene.

“’DRACULADS’ is the sound of two lovers kissing in a bar fight,” Gould said about the glorious music video. “It is an over the top love song literally about falling in love with a vampire. The video is a period piece and tells the story of two punk rock kids dating in England, in 1985. It was filmed in one single day and shot at many historic musical landmarks in Manchester. For the two indoor scenes I built sets in my apartment, at one point transforming my own bedroom into the home of one of our characters. It is chaotic and romantic, destructive and dramatic just as the song it was shot for.”

Salem II Tracklist:

1.William, It Was Really Something
2. DRACULADS
3. Keep The Thorns
4. Sweet Tooth
5. Heaven Help Me

Salem II arrives 7 May via Roadrunner Records. Preorder it here.
