More about:

Last Friday (7 May), record label Sub Pop released Archive Series Volume No.5: Tallahassee Recordings.

It features early recordings from singer-songwriter Iron & Wine from 1998-99, three years before he would release his first album, The Creek Drank the Cradle.

Today sees the release of a music video for the single ‘This Solemn Day’, created with multimedia artist Steven Dufala. Using stop-motion and paper sculptures, the video brings even more life to Iron & Wine’s unique storytelling.

The recordings shed light on the early days of Iron & Wine’s songwriting. The music is simple but charming, documenting the early days of an artist who would go on to reshape the singer-songwriter genre. Tallahassee and ‘This Solemn Day’ are a treat for long-time fans and new listeners alike.
