More about:

Indie superstars Hippo Campus announce new EP and share brand new single ‘Bad Dream Baby’. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything new from Hippo Campus, but thankfully they’re breaking their silence very soon, with their new EP, Good Dog, Bad Dream.

Coming together how the band wanted it to, through a lack of pressure and a new studio space, this new EP captures the joy and freedom of friends working together to create incredible music.

Lead single, ‘Bad Dream Baby’ embodies this fun. Taking the band in a previously unheard direction, harbouring a subdued punk energy and a unique unusual guitar riff, this track takes us from vocalist Jake Luppen’s childhood dog getting put down, his parents' divorce, and a Britney Spears documentary, to say it's a rollercoaster ride would be an understatement. Luckily, everybody loves a rollercoaster, don’t they?

On the lead single, Luppen has said:

“The lyrics are a stream of consciousness, darting between my complex relationship with my father, a Britney Spears documentary, and some older men at Grumpy's (my favorite bar in Minneapolis) who used to hit on me. The hook references my exit from the Mormon religion when I was 15 and the isolation felt during quarantine and the death of the dog my mom got me during my parents’ intense divorce.”
