Witty lyrics and in-your-face politics

She Drew The Gun (aka Louisa Roach) has just released the next single from her new album Behave Myself, arriving 24 September on Submarine Cats Records. Here, she’s using her voice to protest political corruption, accusing the government of inciting a class war.

Musically, the song is straightforward, built from melodic bass and retro synths. This simplicity allows Roach’s poetic, razor-sharp lyrics to shine. Repeating the question ‘How much did you get paid for that’ throughout the song, her witty wordplay (“I’m a weapon a masked corruption”) puts forward a powerful point.

She said that ‘Class War (How Much)’ is about "how much we let corruption go in plain sight and accept a politician's answer when these people are at the front of a ruthless class war being waged against those of us who live on the wrong side of Capital”.
